This project explores a series of small fantasy props: scrolls, feathers, gems, and potions-created to practice shape language, clarity, and stylized materials. My goal was to design items that feel instantly readable while still carrying personality and a touch of storytelling.
Each set offered a different design challenge.
Scrolls helped me test structural silhouettes and magical accents.
Feathers let me explore elegant curves and decorative forms.
Gems pushed me to work with facets, reflections, and stylized lighting.
Potions brought together liquids, glass shapes, and fantasy ornamentation to create cohesive, eye-catching designs.
The workflow followed a simple but effective pipeline: early silhouettes, shape tests, line-art, and final colored versions. This made it easy to compare ideas and understand what makes a prop functional, distinctive, and visually strong.
Alongside the design exploration, the final assets were painted to feel at home in fantasy games. They feature rich colors, polished materials, and a light illustrative style suited for RPGs, adventure titles, or mobile games. The potions, sparkling crystals, and magical accessories are meant to stand out with charm while staying clean and readable.
What I enjoyed most was finding the balance between simplicity and detail, enough ornament and glow to feel magical, but not so much that the designs lose clarity. Each prop needed its own character while still fitting into a shared world.
Overall, this project helped me sharpen my visual decision-making, explore stylized materials, and build a cohesive set of small, hand-painted 2D assets with clear identity and purpose. I learned a lot from working on these props, and I’m happy with how the whole collection came together.
